Compiled Military Service Records (CMSR)
|
$30.00 |
|
CMSRs are
available for both UNION and CONFEDERATE soldiers.
The CMSR contains basic information about the soldier's military
career, and it is the first source the researcher should consult.
The CMSR is an envelope (a jacket) containing one or more cards.
These cards typically indicate that the soldier was present or
absent during a certain period of time. Other cards may indicate
the date of enlistment and discharge, amount of bounty paid him,
and other information such as wounds received during battle or
hospitalization for injury or illness. The soldier's place of
birth may be indicated; if foreign born, only the country of birth
is stated. The CMSR may contain an internal jacket for so-called
"personal papers" of various kinds. These may include a copy of
the soldier's enlistment paper, papers relating to his capture and
release as a prisoner of war, or a statement that he had no
personal property with him when he died. Note, however, that the
CMSR rarely indicates battles in which a soldier fought; that
information must be derived from other sources.
We provide photo copies of the entire CMSR of each individual
soldier. In addition, we also provide a CD-ROM containing scanned
images of the entire CMSR in JPEG format.

Pension Records |
$45.00 |
|
Pension records
are available for
UNION
and some CONFEDERATE soldiers. These documents relate to
any applications for a pension claim by your soldier, or your
soldier's widow. The records can contain death certificates,
letters or affidavits from officers, doctors, siblings, and
neighbors, the soldier's application in his own handwriting,
children's birth records, and even pages from family Bibles. There
could also be pay vouchers, muster rolls, parole material,
hospital admission slips, and a marriage license. Pension records
quite often unearth new discoveries about Civil War soldiers that
were unknown to families! The pension files may contain many
pages of information.
We provide photo copies of the entire pension record of each
individual soldier. In addition, we also provide a CD-ROM
containing scanned images of the entire pension record in JPEG
format. |

Unit Records |
$35.00 |
|
These records
relate to the stations, movements, or activities of each unit, or
part of that unit. The military histories of many UNION and
CONFEDERATE units contain information regarding the formation of
the unit, its mustering in, training and action seen. It often
times contains rosters of each company composing the unit. The
military history in conjunction with the CMSR and pension file can
be used to reconstruct the soldier's activity during the war.
We provide a copy of the unit record of each individual soldier.
In addition, we also provide a CD-ROM containing scanned images of
the entire unit record in JPEG format. |

Soldier Name Search |
$25.00 |
|
If you think you have ancestors who
served during the Civil War, but don't know their names, we can
help by providing a soldier name search.
All we need is the name of an ancestor who was living in 1920 and
we can trace back that individual's family line to see if there
was a Civil War soldier ancestor. If no soldier ancestor's are
found, there will be no charge.
